Agriturismo Instead of Hotel Chains
Those who truly want to experience the Cilento don't stay in anonymous chain hotels. An agriturismo among the olive groves, a B&B in a medieval palazzo, or a holiday home overlooking the sea – these are the accommodations that make a trip unforgettable.
Many accommodation owners are also the best advisors: they know the hidden coves, the trattorias without tourist menus, and the markets where locals shop.
Agriturismo
Stay on a farm – with home-grown olive oil, wine and vegetables from the garden. Most agriturismi also offer half board, which is the best way to experience local cuisine.
Ask about breakfast with local products – there are often homemade jams, cheese and honey.
Palazzo & B&B
Many medieval palazzi in Castellabate, Agropoli and Pisciotta have been converted into charming B&Bs. High ceilings, antique furniture and often a rooftop terrace with sea views.
